A build up of beta amyloid plaque was previously thought to cause Alheimer's. Amyloid is a protective response and is part of the bodys' immune system. 1. Leafy greens. Some ideas: kale, spinach, collard and mustard greens. These foods are high in folate and B9, which improve cognition and reduce depression.

Baking Soda: For years, experts thought baking soda’s cancer-fighting ability came from its ability to alkalinize an acidic body. Many cancers thrive when the body has a pH that’s more acidic than alkaline, so this makes sense. But it’s not the only reason it works. Sodium is an acid-neutralizer. Western medicine’s answer to excessive inflammation has been to develop NSAIDs – nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications – that block production of pro-inflammatory enzymes, including a substance called cyclooxygenase, or COX-2. Unfortunately, pharmaceutical COX-2 inhibitors also block production of COX-1 – an enzyme essential to a healthy stomach lining – thereby triggering stomach irritation and bleeding, peptic ulcers and kidney problems. It was an attempt to solve this problem that led to the development of “selective” COX-2 inhibitors, which were designed to not interfere with production of COX-1. Breast Cancer: Tamoxifen (the most popular cancer drug) and mammograms cause cancer and is not early detection. Ultrasound is better, Thermography is best. Ruled by Fear: Women Flock to Get Double Mastectomies: More breast cancer patients are taking drastic action to cure themselves. Even though they have cancer in only one breast, more women are opting to have their healthy breast removed as well. They want make absolutely sure the cancer has no chance of coming back. Over the past 10 years, the number of breast cancer patients who decide to remove a cancer-free breast has more than tripled. We’re not talking about the procedure made famous by actress Angelina Jolie. She was in a different situation. She never actually had breast cancer. But she underwent a double mastectomy after learning she had a defective BRCA1 gene. This gave her an 87% chance of getting breast cancer in the future. So she had her breasts pre-emptively removed. Instead, we’re talking about women who already have cancer in one breast but decide to get both breasts removed. The procedure is called contralateral prophylactic mastectomy (CPM). In 2002, 3.9% of breast cancer patients opted for CPM. By 2012, the rate had skyrocketed more than threefold to 12.7%.
Removing a Healthy Breast Doesn't Boost Survival: More than 90% of women who get CPM say they had the procedure for the “peace of mind.” There’s only one problem...There’s not a shred of evidence that CPM works. Studies show that long-term survival of women who have CPM is the same as those who left their healthy breast alone. A major study in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that women with CPM have a 10-year survival rate of 81.2%. Women who had a single breast removed had a survival rate of 79.9%. And those getting breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy) had an 83.2% survival rate. Researchers said the small differences between the three procedures are statistically insignificant. All three procedures have virtually the same long-term survival rate. The double mastectomy trend has even hit men. Male breast cancer is rare. There are only about 2,600 new cases a year in the U.S. But the number of men getting CPM nearly doubled between 2004 and 2011, according to a study by the American Cancer Society.
Double Mastectomy Is Riskier: This is major surgery. It is more disfiguring than a lumpectomy or single mastectomy. It is riskier. Colon Cancer: It has been researched, proven, and documented by UCLA and Harvard that chemotherapy causes cancer-causing stem cells. It is a biohazard sustance and is a derative of mustard gas. When a colon-cancer patient goes into remission, the chemotherapy has killed off the cancer cells. But the chemotherapy doesn't destroy the genetic mutations that caused the cancer in the first place. These can survive in the colon, but only in a specific group of cells. These are actually stem cells. Stem cells, as you may know, are premature cells that haven't grown into mature colon cells. As these stem cells mature with the cancerous mutations, the tumor can reappear and cause a relapse. Even if your cancer goes into remission, it will usually come roaring back with little response to treatment. So prevention is vital. If you've had colon cancer and you're in remission, prevention becomes even more crucial. A protein called HOXA5 regulates the body's stem cells. It helps them mature into the proper tissue. Fortunately, a recent study found that a common nutrient can help prevent colon cancer and colon cancer recurrence. Retinoid differentiation therapy could be significantly effective against colon cancer, not only for treatment of existing disease but also as a preventive measure in high-risk patients. Researchers found that the retinoid can re-activate HOXA5. In fact, when they gave vitamin A to mice with colon cancer, it blocked tumor progression, normalized the tissue, eliminated cancer stem cells and prevented metastasis. They found the same results on people. So if you're at high risk for colon cancer, or if you're in remission from colon cancer, vitamin A could be a vital part of preventing the disease. One caveat: Vitamin A can be toxic when taken in large doses. This is especially a concern for pregnant women and women during their reproductive years (who should avoid taking this large dose). Dr. Johanna Budwig’s Flax Oil & Sulphur-Based Protein Therapy
German-born biochemist Johanna Budwig (1908-2003) was acknowledged as perhaps the world’s leading expert on lipid biochemistry — the field of study dealing with fats (lipids that are solid at room temperature) and oils (lipids that are liquid at room temperature), and their activity within biological systems.
She held a Ph.D. in Natural Science, with emphasis in chemistry and physics, and was also formally trained as a physician, botanist, and biologist. On seven different occasions she was nominated by her peers to receive a Nobel Prize.
In 1931, a man named Dr. Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize for work proving cancer is caused by a lack of oxygen in the cells. He states in his book, “The Prime Cause and Prevention of Cancer" that “the cause of cancer is no longer a mystery; we know it occurs whenever any cell is denied 60% of its oxygen requirements.” But documentation and proof of oxygen therapy curing virtually every disease we know of goes back to the late 1800’s! Why aren’t we hearing about this? Why isn’t it a part of our every day lives if it is such a powerful cure-all? The answer is simple. It is not profitable. In 1960's, the pioneering and courageous Dr. Robert Atkins, of Atkins Diet fame, temporarily lost his license after he publicly reported that he had cured, completely cured, a woman's breast cancer by using oxygen. The New York State Medical Board reinstated his license only on condition that Dr. Atkins agreed to stop using, or publicly encourage the use of oxygen therapy.

won the Nobel Prize
Dr. Budwig was familiar with the work of 1931 Nobel laureate Otto Warburg who demonstrated that, unlike normal cells which receive their energy from oxygen gas, the energy that maintains cancer cells is derived principally from the fermentation of glucose. In Warburg’s words:
“Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause.
Summarized in a few words, the prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar [glucose] … all cancer cells without exception must ferment, and no normal growing cell ought to exist that ferments in the body.” 78
Warburg’s work never fully postulated the cause(s) of this reversion of cancer cells to the more primitive anaerobic state. He did, however, theorize that he could raise the oxygen levels in anaerobic cells through the consumption of saturated fats. Pursuing this reasoning, he unsuccessfully attempted to increase oxygen transfer into cancer cells using the saturated fat butyric acid (which Budwig later determined was not sufficiently energetic to effect oxygen transport).
Building on Warburg’s work, 1937 Nobel laureate Albert Szent-Györgyi demonstrated that essential fatty acids (EFAs), combined with sulphur-rich proteins, are able to increase cellular oxygenation.
Budwig understood that cancer cells revert to the more primitive fermentation of glucose because they are deprived of oxygen to the extent they must find another source of energy in order to survive. One of her greatest contributions is the discovery of the reason this oxygen deprivation and subsequent reversion occurs. Simply stated, the anaerobic environment that spawns the proliferation of cancer is caused by the lack of sufficient omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids in the diet, as well as the overconsumption of modern foods containing unhealthy forms of fats and oils, according to Budwig.
Essential fatty acids are so labeled because they are essential for life and cannot be manufactured by the body. Consequently, they must be supplied through the diet. If these health-providing fatty acids aren’t consumed in sufficient amounts, physical processes within the cells degrade to the more primitive form of energy production –fermentation of glucose within a poorly oxygenated environment. Also, and equally important, is the fact that the modern-day overconsumptionof unhealthy forms of fats and oils so prevalent in today’s processed foods, competes with the uptake and use of healthy EFAs, further limiting their availability.
Although this is a simplified explanation of the physical/chemical processes involved, a more detailed explanation can be found in the references listed below.
Based on her own extensive research over many decades, as well as probable knowledge of Szent-Györgyi’s findings regarding the use of essential fatty acids combined with sulphur-rich proteins to raise cellular energy levels, Dr. Budwig pioneered a protocol for cancer prevention and treatment based on the use of small amounts of flaxseed (linseed) oil combined with a rich supply of sulphur-based proteins. She recommended the products Quark® (a German cottage cheeselike dairy product), and more commonly cottage cheese, as the best sources of sulphur-based protein. Flax oil is one of the richest sources of the EFAs omega-3s and -6s, and cottage cheese is perhaps the most convenient, richest source of sulphur-based protein.
Budwig found that neither ingredient alone is effective in either the prevention or treatment of disease. The flax oil must be “activated” by thoroughly mixing it with the cottage cheese in an electric blender at a ratio ranging from 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil per ¼ cup of (preferably organic) lowfat cottage cheese, to 3-4 tablespoons flax oil per ½ cup cottage cheese, depending on the severity of illness — taken on a daily basis. Other ingredients such as fruit and honey may be added to taste.
A characteristic of flaxseed oil is that it attracts oxygen. If you add flaxseed oil to paint, you will end up with quick drying paint. The problem is that flaxseed oil is not obsorbed into the body very well because on a molecular level, it has a negative charge. Our intestinal wall linings also have a negative charge so therefore repel each other. But cottage cheese has a positive charge and eliminates this issue.
For those who are lactose intolerant or simply want to avoid animal-derived foods, alternatives to cottage cheese can be found in the references below. Writing in the Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients in 1990, cancer researcher and physician Dan C. Roehm, M.D., F.A.C.P., states that, “What she [Dr. Budwig] has demonstrated to my initial disbelief but lately, to my complete satisfaction in my practice, is: CANCER IS EASILY CURABLE; the treatment is dietary/lifestyle, the response is immediate: the cancer cell is weak and vulnerable; the precise biochemical breakdown point was identified by her in 1951 and is specifically correctable …”
According to Robert E. Willner, M.D., Ph.D., writing in his book The Cancer Solution, “Numerous independent clinical studies published in major medical journals worldwide confirm Dr. Budwig’s findings … Over 40 years ago Dr. Budwig presented clear and convincing evidence, which has been confirmed by hundreds of other related scientific research papers since, that the essential fatty acids are at the core of the answer to the cancer problem.” You will come to your own conclusions as to why this simple, effective prevention and therapy has not only been ignored — it has been suppressed!
Dr. Budwig recommended the Flaxseed Oil & Cottage Cheese treatment protocol be followed precisely, according to her explicit directions. The caveat to this is that many people have successfully used only the flax oil and cottage cheese, without adhering to the other detailed food recommendations her works suggest.
Enzymes and Cancer Cytokines are chemical messengers that help cells in the immune system communicate with each other. They’re essential for immune function, and play a role when it comes to fighting cancer cells. Interferon is a type of cytokine released when there’s pathogens around — whether it’s viruses, bacteria, or tumor cells. It activates immune cells known as “macrophages” that are able to clear away stuff the body doesn’t want — like cancer cells. Tumor necrosis factor is also a cytokine that helps with killing off tumor cells. It causes them to break down, through a process called cytolysis, which is where a cell bursts after being filled with too much water. So, if enzymes boosts levels of these cytokines, tumor and cancer cells should have a tougher time surviving. White blood cells are often what people refer to when they’re talking about cells of the immune system. They’re responsible for keeping us healthy by fighting off foreign invaders. Macrophages are a type of white blood cell that are responsible for devouring unwanted cells and substances like cancer cells. Natural Killer cells are also a type of white blood cell, and are known as the most aggressive in the immune system. They target infected cells and tumor cells, and work by causing a process called apoptosis. Apoptosis is also known as “programmed cell death”. Enzymes may boost the strength of these powerful white blood cells. Perhaps the most interesting one is this: There’s a theory by some scientists proposing that cancer cells are able to “hide” themselves from our immune system. The theory is that cancer cells might do this by covering themselves in a coat of a protein called “fibrin”. The theory is that enzymes may be able to break down the fibrin coat and remove the disguise. The theory proposes that once the disguise is removed, the cells of the immune system should be able to identify the cancer cells and clear them from the system. Again, there are no major studies to prove any of these theories yet. Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme extracted from pineapple stems, and in recent research, it has been seen to have better anti-tumoral effects compared to chemotherapy - when studied in animals. In one 2007 study published in the journal Planta Medica, animals treated with bromelain had a survival index of 318%, compared to the chemotherapy drug 5-fluorouracil, which had a survival index of 263% indicating that the bromelain enzyme had a more effective anti-tumoral activity than the drugs. In this study, “survival index” was used as a measure of anti-tumoral activity. Though the findings haven’t been replicated in human studies yet, these results are quite remarkable, because bromelain has very limited side effects compared to the debilitating effects of chemotherapy medication. (We are not stating that enzymes can cure cancer.)
